"I am able to fantasize a lot and most of these imaginations are triggered by humour. The jokes and things that make me laugh are most of the time vulgar or taboo. I think humour is not meant to be soft, It's meant to confront people while entertaining them at the same time. It is meant to be therapy and therefore it is a big part of whom I am and naturally a big part of my work.
Altough my subjects are mainly ridiculous, absurd and funny, I have a serious approach when it comes to creating. Every work is the process of a fight between this commitment to realistic details and the need to take artistic freedom." (S.B.)
“Sometimes painting is like riding a horse backwards.”
